About This Role

As the Cross Dock Operations Manager for Western Canada, you are the hands-on operational owner of freight movement, documentation accuracy, and cross dock performance across our BC, Calgary, and Edmonton and Winnipeg locations. This is a high-impact individual contributor role focused on direct execution and operational excellence.  Reporting directly to the Director of Operations, you bring experience, judgment, and a high standard of execution to everything from carrier coordination and OS&D resolution to TMS accuracy and daily reporting. You're the person on the ground who keeps Western dock operations clean, reliable, and moving.

Responsibilities

Own carrier and dock operations by:

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with carrier and dock partners

  • Monitor service levels daily, track next-day delivery readiness, and resolve scheduling gaps before they become problems

  • Coordinate third-parties, follow up on missing delivery information, and keep trackers updated with accurate notes and exceptions

  • Audit inventory weekly and action freight that needs to be moved to OS&D or rebooked

  • Reduce overall dwell time of freight at Crossdock locations.  Monitor Storage and challenge discrepancies.  

  • Ensure daily pickups are executed correctly and that all PODs and documentation are shared promptly when requested

  • Monitor inbound linehaul arrivals and manage outbound delivery planning through to final destination

Run efficient TMS and load building by:

  • Create and update return shipments, reshipments, and disposals within set turnaround times

  • Confirm load accuracy, remove outdated records, and ensure BOL and PO data is correct at every stage

  • Troubleshoot system roadblocks with support from the operations teams

Keep OSD freight under control by:

  • Maintain full accountability for OS&D freight coordination, trackability, and preparation of the OS&D for transportation..

  • Coordinate returns, relabeling, disposal, and damage processes with vendors, partners, and the CCS dock team

  • Keep OS&D shared drives current and publish weekly OS&D snapshots for internal teams

Champion communication and team engagement by:

  • Act as the direct operational link between Western dock activity and the Director of Operations

  • Keep documentation, systems, and logs accurate and up to date across all site activity

  • Surface issues proactively, share wins and learnings, and contribute to a continuous improvement mindset across the Western network

Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in dock, warehouse, or freight operations — ideally with exposure across multiple sites

  • Background in transportation, 3PL, or 4PL environments strongly preferred

  • Solid working knowledge of OS&D, freight handling, and shipping processes

  • Proficient with TMS/WMS systems; strong attention to detail

  • Valid driver's license; comfortable with occasional travel (approximately once per year)
